Community Solutions’ Applied Research Team
What We Do
Applied demographic and socioeconomic research at Community Solutions seeks to provide those working to improve health, social, and economic conditions with the data they need to make informed decisions and training on how to use such information most effectively. Our work is trusted by nonprofit executives, public officials, and community leaders.
Long engaged in providing community and neighborhood quality of life indicators, in 2012, Community Solutions launched the Northeast Ohio Regional Impact and Outcomes (NEORIO) initiative. Updated in 2014, NEORIO provides consistent, reliable data on community conditions, a common barometer on which to base success, and forums to discuss critical issues and explore new ways of working together.
Northeast Ohio Data Collaborative
Community Solutions also aids in coordinating a collaboration of the region’s major institutions that provide data and analysis on health, social, and economic conditions in the region. Joining Community Solutions in the Northeast Ohio Data Collaborative are the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs of Cleveland State University and the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences of Case Western Reserve University.
In June 2013, Community Solutions and Public Insight Corporation announced a partnership in a new, Web-based public data platform, Public Insight. The new partnership means that critical data will be more readily available to a broader audience in a more informative format that will expand upon our mission. Learn more about the partnership and about publicinsightdata.com.
In June 2014, CCS released profiles of each of Ohio’s 88 counties that highlight demographic projections, educational attainment, labor force participation, employment, income, poverty, and human services participation. Profiles are available for download alphabetically and by region, along with complete data files, here.

How We Can Help Your Organization
Our applied research team specializes in helping public, nonprofit, and private groups find answers to key questions. We provide the data and analysis community leaders need to make informed decisions, especially as they relate to health and social service issues. This includes supporting the research needs of our community, collecting desired data and performing research, transforming data into useable and accessible information, and disseminating information in an easily understood and focused manner.
Our team has extensive experience in community planning, public policy, data compilation, demographic research, and budget and fiscal analysis. When additional expertise is warranted, we partner with leading higher education research institutions.
The Center for Community Solutions looks forward to working with groups across the region to provide the data they need to make informed decisions.
Recent applied research projects include work for Cuyahoga County Board of Health, United Way of Greater Cleveland, Preterm, The Centers for Families and Children, United Black Fund, Mental Health and Recovery Board of Wayne & Holmes Counties, and the Akron Community Foundation.
