Budget Training Academy

Public funds are a critical source of funding for many agencies and programs.  But budgeting processes are quite complicated and the process can appear daunting to many advocates.  Many advocates in the areas of health, education, and social service lack training, resources, and understanding of how and wend to work with policymakers.  That’s why The Center for Community Solutions offers state and federal Budget Training Academies for members of Ohio’s advocacy community.

These three-day, intensive training sessions are held in Washington, DC, or Columbus, where individuals from across the state learn about the budget process and how to advocate effectively for state and federal investments in critical areas.  Participants hear from experienced advocates, budget experts, and government officials and receive practical information to help advance their organizations’ budget advocacy.

Participants are selected through a competitive application process, and a small fee is collected from participant organizations.  Past graduates of our Budget Training Academies have gone on to acquire federal appropriations for their organizations, advocate successfully for increased state investment in critical programs, and teach others how be effective advocates.
