The AIDS Funding Collaborative (AFC) proudly welcomes Brian Kimball as Chair and Shelby Kaemmerer as Vice Chair to lead the Advisory Committee for the next two years.
Kimball, Assistant Director of Health for the Cleveland Department of Public Health, has served as staff representative for the City of Cleveland to the AFC since 2021. He was the Vice Chair of the AFC from 2022 – 2025.
Kaemmerer, Program Officer of the Mt. Sinai Health Foundation, has served as staff representative to the AFC for the Mt. Sinai Health Foundation since 2024.
The AIDS Funding Collaborative (AFC) is a public/private partnership designed to strengthen the community’s response to HIV/AIDS by providing coordination, leadership, advocacy, and funding in Cuyahoga County. Through the collective grantmaking model, over $13 million has been mobilized to support HIV-related efforts in specific neighborhoods and networks that face the highest rates of HIV.
The Advisory Committee is the AFC’s governing body and is comprised of representatives appointed by the AFC’s funding partners, along with community-at-large members, and representatives of designated community organizations. All representatives have an equal vote in the AFC’s decision-making.
The AFC’s success is rooted in its ability to remain nimble and respond quickly to community needs with realtime solutions facilitated by experienced staff. This approach allows public and private funders to work together more strategically, accelerating progress toward ending the HIV epidemic in Cuyahoga County.
The AFC’s funding partners are: The Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Cuyahoga County; The City of Cleveland; The Cleveland Foundation; Cuyahoga County; The George Gund Foundation; and Mt. Sinai Health Foundation.
