The George Gund Foundation and Community Solutions have partnered to create a visiting fellowship for housing justice to support systems-level collaboration, planning, and advocacy to prevent homelessness and advance safe, dignified housing solutions in Cuyahoga County.
Angela D’Orazio assumed the role in January, bringing more than 15 years of experience and relationships within the homeless services sector. As the visiting fellow for housing justice, Angela will work to build partnerships across community stakeholders, including people with lived experience, service providers, city and county government, philanthropy, and private sector partners.
Strong local planning, advocacy, and strategic alignment of resources are essential to preserve and enhance the community’s progress toward the creation of a compassionate, people-centered, and effective homeless response system.
The fellowship comes at a critical time, as federal funding regulations for homeless services increasingly de-emphasize permanent housing solutions, evidence-based practices, and racial equity in service delivery. Strong local planning, advocacy, and strategic alignment of resources are essential to preserve and enhance the community’s progress toward the creation of a compassionate, people-centered, and effective homeless response system.
Angela previously served as the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland’s senior program officer for ending homelessness where she supported community collaboration, organizational capacity, and funder engagement to support housing justice. She worked to build partnerships across public systems, nonprofit providers, and young people to create the A Place 4 Me initiative, which has led to youth-centered solutions to prevent and end homelessness among young people. She most recently served as a senior grants specialist with Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland, supporting the organization’s emergency assistance services.
Angela currently serves as Board chair of A Place 4 Me and previously served on the Board of Funders Together for Housing Justice (formerly Funders Together to End Homelessness). She has also partnered with Philanthropy Ohio to convene a statewide affinity group for funders interested in housing stability. Angela has a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and sociology from Kent State University and a Master of Science in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University.
