Suzanna Thiese is a Research Fellow at The Center for Community Solutions. She is a registered nurse, most recently in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Akron Children's Hospital. She has worked for a charitable free clinic and a farmer’s market, which has led to her backyard being converted into a large garden and an obsession with chickens and bees. As part of the research team, she enjoys telling stories of individuals and groups of people through client projects, reporting, and articles. Suzanna received her Bachelor's in Nursing from Kent State University and her Ph.D. in Nursing from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western University. Her dissertation examined social drivers of maternal mortality across the United States, and she has published several papers on organ donation and medical mistrust in vulnerable populations. Suzanna currently serves on the Hudson Farmer's Market Board and served on the City of Akron Racial Equity & Social Justice Taskforce, helping to create the Youth and Community Opportunity Director role to address youth violence across the city.
