The Positive Education program works hard to support young people to overcome and thrive. Their annual event, PEP Rally for Kids, was in person for the first time in four years on June 6, 2023. Community Solutions was thrilled to join Cleveland Votes as honorees recognized as important local organizations who help make government and democracy work for youth.
The honor for Community Solutions came, in large part, as recognition of the tireless work of our Visiting Fellow, Children and Youth, the late Gayle Tenenbaum and her work on OhioRISE.
The honor for Community Solutions came, in large part, as recognition of the tireless work of our Visiting Fellow, Children and Youth, the late Gayle Tenenbaum and her work on OhioRISE, recently enacted and praised by the Governor. Her dedication in the children and youth space reimagined the work that The Center for Community Solutions has been doing for over a century. More broadly, PEP recognized the impact of our research, advocacy and thought leadership as instrumental in helping PEP advance its mission.
About the PEP Rally for Kids
Speakers noted how the past few years have been incredibly hard on the young people served at Positive Education Program. “A global pandemic, harsh political discourse and economic hardships have made for painful days for young people who entered this moment already challenged by complex developmental trauma, mental health issues, and autism.”
The PEP Rally included a panel discussion with Executive Ronayne; Cleveland VOTES Co-Founder and Executive Director Erika Anthony; and Community Solutions President John Corlett were panelists, and our PEP kids asked the questions.
Since 1971, Positive Education Program has been supporting young people to overcome and thrive. PEP provides services — both direct and consultative in nature — for children challenged by complex developmental trauma, mental health issues and autism, their families and the professionals who support them. PEP is committed to understanding and overcoming the significant trauma and chronic stress experienced by many of the youth we serve. Programs include six PEP Day Treatment Centers (Eastwood, Greenview, Hopewell, Phoenix, Prentiss Autism Center, Willow Creek), PEP Connections, PEP Early Childhood Plus and PEP Assist.
