Last week, the Ohio Auditor of State released a required performance audit of the Ohio Department of Medicaid. While a performance audit may bring visions of stacks of paperwork and charts and graphs to your mind, this report offers deep insight into the operations of Medicaid in Ohio—from the state agency operation, to county eligibility determinations, to financing, to engagement with managed care insurance plans, to medical provider level engagement, to program enrollee experience, and recommendations to make the overall program more efficient and responsive.
“Better engage stakeholders” is one key recommendation from the audit, and here’s a chance to do just that!
The state is seeking public comment on the audit until October 29. This report is worth a read and a bit of time to weigh in with additional insight into Medicaid in Ohio through public comment.
