Fifteen Ohio counties had 18 social service levies appear on ballots on May 6. Social services are crucial to support the wellbeing of Ohioans; this is a follow-up to the previously published piece covering levies in the May primary election.
What levies passed?
Of the 18 levies that appeared on 15 county ballots 16 passed. Below is a list of all the levies that passed.
Only two levies did not pass in this election: Coshocton County’s children’s services levy and Huron County’s behavioral health levy.
Did Issue 2 pass?
Issue 2, passed with over 67 percent of Ohioans voting in favor of the ballot language. This protects capital improvement support for infrastructure projects.
Local elections are important
The support for social service levies in the May primary shows that Ohioans by and large care about living in an environment supported by programs and institutions working to provide crucial services.
