It can be a challenging task to capture the feedback and insights of the communities you serve, and The Center for Community Solutions was excited to consult with the Area Agency on Aging for Planning Service Area 2 (PSA2) to help achieve their vision.
Surveying the needs of older adults in nine counties in western Ohio
PSA2 recently released their community needs assessment, exploring the needs of older adults living in their service region. Headquartered in Dayton, PSA2 provides vital services to a diverse community of older adults across nine counties in western Ohio. PSA2 will use this assessment to develop a four-year strategic plan for 2027-2030.
Thousands of surveys were randomly sent to older adults across the region and focus groups with harder to reach but critical to hear from populations were conducted. This wealth of information was then collaboratively analyzed and compiled into this comprehensive needs assessment.
Healthy aging barriers vary by location, even if experiences are similar
For an organization like PSA2, capturing the rich diversity of experiences for the people they serve for this assessment was of utmost importance. In many ways, the needs of an older adult who’s lived their whole life in rural Darke County mirrors the needs of an older adult who recently immigrated to the United States and currently living in Dayton. But the barriers to achieving healthy aging are likely vastly different, and PSA2’s mission is to effectively serve them both.
If you work at an organization that serves your community, and developing a stronger understanding of the people you serve would benefit your mission, don’t hesitate to reach out to The Center for Community Solutions. We’d love to hear about your next project.
