If you are a frequent reader of The Center for Community Solutions’ state budget resources, you are likely familiar with our series of budget-related content, State Budgeting Matters (SBM). SBM has taken on different forms over the years and is produced at varying frequencies throughout each two-year state budget cycle. In an attempt to ensure this wonky content is as accessible as possible, we’ve shifted to more blogs and webinars, rather than long-form budget narratives. In this year’s iteration, we will continue the evolution of SBMs by documenting and analyzing state budget provisions related to each of our policy priority areas, following up on outreach and numerous blogs and testimonies that we produced during the height of the budget process earlier this year. Our goal is to document the highlights, and perhaps lowlights, as they relate to our policy priority areas within the state budget, and set the stage for tracking implementation over the biennium. You’ll see these released over the next several weeks.

If you are a frequent reader of The Center for Community Solutions’ state budget resources, you are likely familiar with our series of budget-related content, State Budgeting Matters (SBM).

Ahead of this, we wanted to be sure to share the helpful resources that we rely upon to track and understand the state budget. While famous across Capitol Square, the work of the Legislative Service Commission (LSC) isn’t nearly famous enough in the rest of the state. It’s a great resource if you’re someone who needs thorough and timely information on state policies and funding. Each biennium, LSC works overtime to produce state budget related content that details policy change from one part of the process to the next (to review that process, visit here) and state agency-specific books (the Redbooks and Greenbooks) delving into programming and funding within each area of state government. We encourage you to check out these resources on the state budget.
