Join Cuyahoga Job and Family Services (CJFS) for another series of community forums to learn more about modernization efforts to improve customer access to public benefits!

When: Registration beings at 12:30 pm, the forum starts at 1 pm.

Where: Warrensville Heights Civic and Senior Center

The forums hope to find answers from residents on what other topics would be useful at CJFS community forums, how can we improve CJFS forums and how do residents use the information used in CJFS forums.

In July 2018 CJFS, a division of the Dept. of Health and Human Services, held a community forum series to discuss modernization initiatives underway to improve customer access to public benefits in Cuyahoga County. Beginning in January 2017, CJFS began handling calls from residents who wanted to apply, renew or report a change on their Medicaid case from zip codes serviced by the Virgil E Brown Neighborhood Family Service Center.

Throughout 2017, this opportunity expanded to every resident of the county and the services grew to encompass individuals wanting Long-Term Care Services, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Ohio Works First (OWF) benefits. CJFS also implemented several features to improve access including, allowing callers to schedule a call back time, as a complement to the virtual hold feature on the call center, as well as the Citizens Interactive Voice Response, which allows individuals to check the status of their benefits and the reoccurring SNAP amount. During the same time, the state of Ohio and counties worked to align benefit programs, including SNAP and OWF within a new integrated eligibility system, Ohio Benefits.
