Medicaid Policy Institute: Food Insecurity as a Determinant of Health

April 24, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Center for Community Solutions invites you to join us on Tuesday, April 24 for our annual Medicaid Policy Institute. The focus of this year’s institute is food as a social determinant of health. Research shows that food insecurity increases cost and diminishes outcomes in health care, and that Ohio Medicaid policy has not comprehensively addressed food insecurity.
The Keynote Speaker for the event is Kate Sommerfeld, President of the Social Determinants of Health Institute for ProMedica, a mission-driven, not-for-profit, health care system serving northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. She is responsible for shaping ProMedica’s work in the social determinants of health, including clinical integration, medical education and training and strategic community initiatives.
